If you often receive documents in Word and you have an updated version of Microsoft Office, you may have noticed something: every time you open or download one of these attachments, Word opens something called Protected View.
This is, believe it or not, function, although it seems more of a nuisance. When you restrict yourself to only visualize the document, Word is protecting you from any viruses that may be present in a file.
Yes, it may be easier and safer to click on Enable Editing and continue with our work. But whether your documents come from reliable sources and are running a reliable antivirus software, you may prefer to disable Protected View and save that extra step. Here I'll tell you how:
- Step 1: Start Word, click File and then select Options.
- Step 2: You click Trust Center and click Trust Center Options.
- Step 3: Click Protected View, then disable all options are listed there.
- Step 4: Click OK and ready!
One caveat: this is a process you perform at your own risk, because only a security flaw is enough to cause a disaster in your files and even the entire system.
